You have to see this! Police officer rescues man from burning vehicle

A HEROIC RESCUE — Video of a dramatic rescue has gone viral after a Texas police officer saved a man from a burning car before it became engulfed in flames.
The incident occurred in Texas on June 7, 2026, but the police dash-cam and officer body-worn camera footage were shared on the Southlake DPS Facebook page on July 15, 2026.
Southlake Police Corporal Joshua Swisher was conducting a traffic stop along a highway when dispatch alerted him about a nearby vehicle that had heavy smoke coming from it.
Video shows the car pulling off to the side of the road as flames begin shooting out from underneath it.
“Get out of the car now! Get out!” Swisher yells over and over as the door to the car remains shut.
Swisher runs over to the driver’s side and reaches for the door handle, but it falls off. He tells the person inside to open the door, but the door still stays closed.
“Come out through the window!” Swisher says, putting on gloves, then breaking the window.
Swisher tells the man, “Give me your hand now! I got you.”
The driver puts his hand on the door, and Swisher quickly pulls him out of the burning car. As he walked the driver away from the burning vehicle, Swisher confirmed with the driver that no one else was inside the vehicle.
The driver did not suffer serious injury.
“For his courage, decisive action, and commitment to protecting others, Corporal Swisher was recently presented with the Southlake Police Department’s Meritorious Conduct Award, the department’s second-highest honor,” an article on My South Lake News wrote. “The award recognizes employees who demonstrate exceptional courage, professionalism, and performance in the face of significant danger.”
