A local hero who’s spent 30 years serving the community is surprised for Feel Good Friday
Published atEastIdahoNews.com is partnering with Smith Honda in Idaho Falls to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
We recently received an email about a man who has been serving his community for decades. It said:
Jared Dye became a volunteer firefighter with the Shelley-Firth Fire Department in 1996. He has not stopped being a part of the fire department since he started. For 30 years, he has responded to fires of every sort, traffic accidents, and medical calls. Not only did Jared volunteer with the fire department, he was a member of the Shelley-Firth Quick Response Unit.
He spent many hours training to become an EMT. If it wasn’t a fire he was responding to it very well could be a medical call. I wish that I knew how many hours he has served over the years as I am 100% confident that it is thousands and thousands of hours.
Jared currently serves as a Battalion Chief with the department. Over the years, he has helped the Fire Department and the Quick Response grow into what it is today. He has helped recruit new members, train new and current members and connect with those that he served.
Jared works full-time as a Captain with the INL Fire Department, and he has risen through the ranks because of his dedication and determination to be the best that he can be in order to serve others.
Jared is a shining example of what undying service looks like. Between his full-time job and his volunteer position, he is constantly in the service of others. Jared loves to be of service to others while never asking for anything in return. When Jared is home and not at work at the INL, his wife would joke that his Shelley Fire Department radio is closer to him then she is. He deserves to be recognized for his commitment to those around him.
We were able to track Jared down and surprise him for Feel Good Friday. Check out the video in the player above!
