Naked man accused of stalking Rexburg residents arrested after early-morning chase

REXBURG — A man accused of repeatedly appearing naked and disturbing residents at Rexburg apartment complexes was arrested early Saturday morning after officers chased him and eventually surrounded him in a backyard, police say.
Officers received numerous reports over the past week involving a naked man near apartment complexes around South 1st West and South 2nd West, according to a police Facebook post.
The investigation came to a head around 4 a.m. Saturday when the suspect was spotted near South 1st West and immediately ran away.
Officers, who had been conducting surveillance in the area, began searching for the man and tracking his movements.
With help from Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies, BYU-Idaho Campus Security and members of the public, police located the suspect and pursued him until he was surrounded in the backyard of a home on 4th West.
The man, whose name was not released in the social media post, was taken into custody and booked into the Madison County Jail.
The suspect was arrested on charges of stalking, indecent exposure, resisting and obstructing officers, and malicious injury to property.
