North Idaho Falls ER to host free teddy bear clinic

IDAHO FALLS — Calling all teddy bears with bumps, bruises and mysterious aches: The doctor is in.
North Idaho Falls ER is inviting families to a free Teddy Bear Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 15, where kids can learn what happens during a trip to the emergency room with their favorite stuffed animal serving as the patient.
Each child will receive a teddy bear at the event or can bring a beloved stuffed animal from home. Kids will then guide their furry patient through a series of interactive medical stations alongside real healthcare professionals.
Young “doctors” will check their teddy bear in and receive a patient wristband before visiting stations for weight, blood pressure and heart rate checks. They’ll also get a look at their bear’s “injury” at an X-ray station and visit a laboratory for a pretend blood draw.
The clinic is designed to make hospitals and emergency care feel a little less intimidating by giving children a fun, hands-on look at what they might experience during a real visit.
Families can also meet staff and learn about North Idaho Falls ER, which provides 24/7 emergency care, board-certified physicians and comprehensive imaging services. Refreshments will be available.
The Teddy Bear Clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at North Idaho Falls ER, 1762 Pickering St., near Lincoln Road west of Hitt Road.
