This ‘Encanto’ star is returning to Rexburg, and local kids are invited to join her on stage

REXBURG — East Idaho children will have the chance to share the stage with the voice behind one of Disney’s biggest animated hits during a special Christmas concert in Rexburg this December.
The Rexburg Children’s Choir is accepting singers ages 9 to 17 for its upcoming Christmas production featuring Adassa, the singer and actress who voiced Dolores Madrigal in Disney’s “Encanto.”
Adassa was also one of the featured performers on “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the blockbuster song from the Academy Award-winning film.
This will be Adassa’s second time performing with the Rexburg Children’s Choir. This year’s concert will have an international Christmas theme, combining music and traditions from around the world with performances by Adassa and young singers from across eastern Idaho. The production is sponsored by Richard and Peggy Larsen.
“Sharing the stage with Adassa is a truly remarkable experience,” choir founder and director Ben Watson told EastIdahoNews.com. “Her personality and genuineness are felt by everyone in the audience, and especially the children. I was so amazed by how much care and attention she gave the kids when she was here last time. We can’t wait to welcome her again.”
Weekly rehearsals begin Monday, Sept. 14, in Rexburg. No previous experience with the Rexburg Children’s Choir is required.
Children and teens interested in participating can register through the Rexburg Children’s Choir website. Details about the December concert, including its date, venue and ticket information, will be announced later.
The Rexburg Children’s Choir was founded a decade ago and has become known for its large-scale performances, music videos and collaborations with professional artists. Its performances have been viewed millions of times online, and the choir has been featured nationally by NBC Nightly News and Inside Edition.
