You have to see this! Heart-stopping moment building crashes to ground during devastating earthquake
Published at | Updated atCRASHING DOWN — A terrifying moment was caught on camera as people watched a 7.4 magnitude earthquake send a building crashing to the ground.
The earthquake happened in western Columbia on Aug 10, 2026. Video from Pereira (a city in Columbia) shows a building on a corner and people standing outside on the street staring at it. Parts of the building can be seen falling off as the structure shakes uncontrollably.
Then, suddenly, a side of the building gives way and crashes forcefully to the ground. Screams can be heard in the video as people are seen running away from the fallen building that sent debris and dust covering the streets.
Other videos have also surfaced online of the damage done by the earthquake, including more buildings that tumbled to the ground. This video shows a building that belonged to the University Hospital of Cali falling to the ground as the ground shook.
The earthquake’s epicenter was in San José del Palmar and was the strongest originating in the Andean nation since at least 1990, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
On Thursday, ABC News reported that active rescue operations were still underway and that more than 280 people were killed. The news outlet said the death toll came Thursday from Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella who said 3,971 people have been injured and the number of those still missing stands at 379.
