A teen vanishes, a bike disappears, a mysterious Polaroid and so many questions. Where is Tara Calico?
Published at | Updated atOn Sept. 20, 1988, 19-year-old Tara Calico left her New Mexico home for a routine morning bike ride. She told her mother she’d be back by noon.
Tara never returned.
Investigators found pieces of her Walkman and a shattered cassette tape along her route, and witnesses reported seeing a pickup truck following closely behind her. Months later, a mysterious Polaroid showing a bound young woman and boy intensified the mystery and became one of the most haunting clues in the case.
Now, 38 years after Tara vanished, investigators say the case is still very much alive — and they believe they are closer than ever to answers.
Tonight on “Courtroom Insider with Nate Eaton,” Nate speaks with Valencia County Sheriff’s Lt. Joseph Rowland about the investigation, the evidence collected over nearly four decades, and what authorities believe happened to Tara Calico.
