Fire crews extinguish fire that destroyed two-story building, caused $100,000 in damages

IDAHO FALLS — A morning structure fire this morning resulted in the complete loss of a two-story shop in north Idaho Falls.

According to a news release from the Idaho Falls Fire Department, around 9:45 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to a shop at 129th North and found the building engulfed in flames.

The shop manager believes a waste-oil fuel stove used for heating — which was on earlier that morning — could have caused the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

The shop was determined to be a complete loss, and damages are estimated at $100,000. A cinder-block structure nearby was not burned.

No injuries were sustained from the fire.
