REXBURG — A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of eastern Idaho as heavy rain falls across several communities.

The warning is in effect for Madison County until 2:45 a.m. North Central Bonneville County and South Central Jefferson County also have flash flood warnings until 2 a.m.

“Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly,” the warning from the National Weather Service says.

Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses are anticipated, as well as poor drainage and low-lying areas.

If you are driving and come across a flooded road, turn around. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, according to NWS.
