La Casita Mexican Food is bringing in the protein-heavy nachos with an Idaho twist
Published at | Updated atBLACKFOOT — It’s a Feedin’ Frenzy at the Eastern Idaho State Fair, and this year we’re back at an all-time fair favorite: La Casita Mexican Food.
Owner Marcial Mejia is a force to be reckoned with at the fair. He’s been feeding eastern Idahoans unique, tasty, authentic Mexican food for 23 years.
This year, we were given a new dish, the Fiesta Fries. It’s similar to traditional nachos, but instead with a bed of freshly cut russet potatoes deep-fried to perfection and served with lots of La Casita’s signature carne asada and birria pork, and topped with nacho cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream.
It was meaty and delicious. We highly recommend it!

The second dish we tried was a Mexican-style dessert: The Taco Delight. It’s a pair of hard-shell tacos dipped in cake mix and deep-fried. Inside are bananas and strawberries, topped with whipped cream, white and dark chocolate with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on.
It was definitely a tasty treat.
La Casita Mexican Food has won many fair food prizes over the years, so there is a whole range of dishes to try at the stand. This year La Casita’s Fiesta Fries won second place in the Best New Entree category.
