AMMON — Local first responders joined Hillcrest and Shelley high school football players on the field Friday night for a special tribute marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Hillcrest High School for US United’s Friday Night Lights initiative, one of nearly 100 high school football events held across the country. First responders took the field with players and coaches from both teams before kickoff at Hillcrest Knights Stadium to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and promote a message of unity.
Fans were also encouraged to participate in US United’s “Passing the Purple” campaign by sharing gestures of unity from the grandstands.
Here are some photos from Friday night’s tribute taken by photographer Tony Blakeslee.
