Saddle up! We’re Workin’ It at Brighton Performance Horses and get quite a ride

IDAHO FALLS — EastIdahoNews.com is highlighting different careers, and today, I’m Workin’ It at Brighton Performance Horses in Bonneville County.
Thomas and Annalee Brighton have trained hundreds of horses over the years and had me saddle up to show some of what it takes to get these beautiful animals ready to compete.
The reining horses are taught to perform precise spins, stops and other maneuvers with very little resistance.
I started by learning how to lunge 2-year-old Hank before climbing aboard LeBron to attempt a few moves himself. The spinning went surprisingly well, and then we tried the stopping exercise. That clearly needed a little more work.
After surviving the lessons, I rewarded LeBron with his favorite post-workout treat: Oreos.
