Faith Hedgepeth Trial, Day 5: Investigators confront suspect, the crucial palm print and a bottle
Published atIt was a pivotal fifth day in the Faith Hedgepeth murder trial as jurors watched police body camera footage of Miguel Salguero-Olivares being confronted by investigators nine years after the UNC-Chapel Hill student’s brutal killing.
The video includes the moment he was told he was a prime suspect.
But the biggest development came in the fingerprint analysis, when an expert testified on Tuesday that a palm print on a blue wine bottle found on the bedroom floor matched Salguero-Olivares’s palm print.
In cross-examination, the defense continued challenging the investigation, raising questions about how police questioned Salguero-Olivares and whether investigators fully explored other potential suspects.
Tonight on “Courtroom Insider,” Grace Wong joins Nate Eaton with the latest in the trial. Plus, we’ll break down the most revealing moments from the day.
