IDAHO FALLS — Falling leaves can create quite a mess and require hours of work to clean up and toss out, but the City of Idaho Falls wants to help.

Its annual leaf collection will run from Oct. 26 through Nov. 20. Check the leaf collection map to see when and where street division crews will pick up the leaves. Residents are asked to rake leaves to the curb one week before their scheduled pickup.

Leaves must be free of sticks, branches, trash and other debris. Residents are also asked to move their vehicles, trailers and other items off the street during leaf collection. Please note that crews cannot remove leaves that are blocked by vehicles or that are mixed with branches, trash or other debris.

Those who miss collection or can’t rake leaves to the street can bag their leaves and choose from two free disposal options. The first option is to take any bag weighing less than 50 pounds to the Bonneville County Transfer Station at 2455 Hemmert Avenue for free. The other is to schedule a pickup by calling the Idaho Falls Sanitation Division at (208) 612-8491.

To help equipment navigate safely and prevent damage to property and vehicles, property owners are required to keep trees trimmed above streets per City Code Title 8, Chapter 9. Trees and limbs/branches need to be trimmed at least 13 feet above the street at the curb and 15 feet above the street at the centerline.

Those with questions can call the street division at (208) 612-8490.
