BLACKFOOT — A young boy escaped death after almost being run over by a train, The Bingham County News reported on Oct. 12, 1911.
A large crowd of people were waiting for a train to pull in when the accident happened. Fera Brown, son of W.E. Brown, was wrestling with friends and was pushed under the wheels of the moving train.
He was immediately caught by one of his friends he was playing with and pulled to safety. The only injury he sustained was he had one ear cut.
1926-1950
RUPERT — A Rupert hunter was shot in the face twice by a shotgun, The Burley Herald reported on Oct. 14, 1930.
Floyd Schow was hunting ducks on a pond close to Big Bend school. Bill Creason was shooting on the opposite side of the pond when he accidentally shot Schow in the face.
One shell penetrated right below one of Schow’s eyes. Another entered near his chin.
“Neither shot could be loosened through probing,” the article states. “Although the wound is painful, no serious results are expected.”
1951-1975
POCATELLO — Two juvenile boys were taken into custody and charged with drunkenness, resisting arrest and malicious destruction of property, the Idaho State Journal reported on Oct. 17, 1974.
Officers said they arrested the two boys near Wyeth and Main after residents in that area reported the boys were using sticks to break out car windows.
When officers arrived, the boys allegedly kicked and fought the arresting officers, even tearing one officer’s uniform.
They were both taken to the Bannock County detention facilities.

IDAHO FALLS — Two prisoners who escaped from a local jail were found inside an Idaho Falls movie theater, the Idaho Falls Post Register reported on Oct. 18, 1977.
The escapees were David Gunter, 19, and Michael McDonald, 20. They escaped from the Madison County Jail Monday morning. They were found inside a movie theater later that evening and returned to Madison County.
Bonneville Sheriff’s deputy Bob Neidner said an Idaho Falls resident notified the sheriff’s office that the men were inside.
