LAVA HOT SPRINGS — A Montpelier man was killed in a car crash near Lava Hot Springs Sunday evening.
The man was traveling with another man in a 2006 Toyota Sienna on US Highway 30 shortly before 7 p.m. The van was in the westbound lane when Idaho State Police says the driver overcorrected after leaving the road, resulting in the vehicle overturning.
Neither of the men was wearing a seatbelt, according to ISP. One of them died at the scene and the other did not need to go to the hospital.
A portion of the highway was closed for nearly six hours while ISP investigated. They were assisted by the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, Caribou County Sheriff’s Office, Bannock County Coroner and Bannock County Ambulance District.
