Tonight on “Courtroom Insider,” a failed execution and a question no one expected to be asking.

Tennessee attempted to execute Christa Pike on Wednesday night; she’s the only woman on the state’s death row. But after two doses of lethal injection drugs, Pike was still breathing.

Witnesses described a disturbing scene, and now questions are being raised about what went wrong.

So, what happens next? Can the state legally try to execute Pike again? Could this become a constitutional battle over the death penalty itself? And what does this mean for the family of Colleen Slemmer, the young woman who Pike was convicted of killing more than 30 years ago?

Beth Karas is the cohost of the podcast “Unrestorable” and did a deep dive in the Christa Pike case. She joins Nate Eaton to break down the legal questions, the potential consequences, and what comes next.
