You have to see this! Intense footage shows the moment a semitruck jackknifed on rain-soaked interstate
Published atA SCARY MOMENT ON THE ROADS — A terrifying moment was caught on dashcam video of a car and semitruck nearly colliding during a rainstorm last week.
The incident happened Sept. 30, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. Tyler Kraus told KETV that the heaviest rain had not even started falling Wednesday night when his commute home changed in an instant.
Video shows Kraus’s car driving down Interstate 80 on a dark, rainy night. All of a sudden, a semitruck appears on the dashcam video, sliding across the rain-soaked lanes. The semi crosses in front of one vehicle before jack-knifing right in front of Kraus’s vehicle.
“A split second later, the truck, you know, the cab of the truck is turned around, facing me, and I’m kind of freaking out,” Kraus told the news outlet.
Miraculously, the semitruck and Kraus’s vehicle did not collide. Video shows the semitruck continuing to slide down the road as the semitruck’s brakes can be heard.
“You can see it go to the shoulder and then kind of back onto the road. And it just kind of came to rest over about the three right-hand lanes on the interstate,” Kraus recalled.
Kraus pulled off onto the shoulder, and he said he waited for the police to come. He mentioned that the semitruck driver didn’t appear to be injured.
“Probably just as scared as I was and everyone else around,” Kraus stated.
He added, “I’m lucky because, you know, the people behind me on the interstate were far enough away that they could see it all happening, so they stopped. But, I mean, if someone was right behind me, I definitely would have been rear-ended in the truck.”
