He refuses to slow down at 89. Now this longtime ski instructor gets a Feel Good Friday surprise.
Published atEastIdahoNews.com is partnering with Smith Honda in Idaho Falls to honor people in our community for Feel Good Friday. Every week, we surprise someone deserving of special recognition.
We recently received an email about a man named Bob who lives in Rexburg. It says:
On Oct. 25, Bob celebrated his 89th birthday, and Rexburg is a better place because he is part of our community.
Bob has always had a special place in his heart for kids! When his own kids were young, he volunteered his time coaching Little League and helping with countless activities.
For 50 years, Bob has taught ski school at Kelly Canyon Ski Hill! Even while living with macular degeneration, he refuses to let challenges define what he can do. You can still find him at the hill every week, sharing his love of skiing and passing that passion on to others.
Bob decorates his yard for the seasons, creating a little extra magic and excitement for the children in the community.
Bob was also instrumental in helping establish the Lions Club Quest Program, which evolved into the DARE program. Once again, he helped kids.
But Bob’s greatest legacy may be the love he has poured into his own family. He is a wonderful husband, a loving father, a magnificent grandfather, an amazing great-grandfather, and now a GREAT-GREAT Grandpa!
There is no grass growing under Bob’s feet! He stays busy, keeps showing up, and continues to give his time, energy, and heart to the people around him.
The world is brighter, our community is stronger, and countless lives are better because you are in it.
We decided to go surprise Bob for Feel Good Friday! Check out the video in the player above.
