PepsiCo to Launch ‘Craft’ Soda
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — PepsiCo is reportedly launching a “craft” soda called Caleb’s Kola.
According to Beverage Digest, the new cola is named after Caleb Bradham, the original founder of Pepsi.
Caleb’s Kola, according to its website, is made with sparkling water, cane sugar and kola nut extract. Its creators were, “determined to craft the best kola using our quality ingredients,” and believes it has come up with a recipe with, “just the right amount of carbonation resulting in a distinct foamy head.”
The move seems to be an attempt to play off the growing craft beer market.
Kola nut extract, the website says, has a, “unique, slightly bitter flavor and a small amount of caffeine.” Brown spices and citrus notes are also included to help give the beverage its flavor.
The drink is currently available at nine Costco locations in New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., according to the website.
