Christmas Tree Farmers Benefit from California Rain
Published at | Updated at(MENTONE, Calif.) — All of the rain that’s fallen over the past several days in the Golden State has Christmas tree farmers rejoicing.
The rain has been a saving grace for inland areas east of Los Angeles at the Greenspot Christmas Tree Farm in Mentone, Calif.
“We were praying for rain,” said owner Kim Buoye.
Buoye added that her water supply to grow her trees has been cut by two thirds this year, which means the watering schedule has taken a big hit.
“We were going from 12 hours a week down to once per month,” she said.
The biggest impact of the drought has been on younger trees that are having a tough time. The recent rain however may keep them growing.
