BYU-Idaho Radio Reporter Kodee O’Neill has more on the Escape House in the clip above.

REXBURG — The Escape House, better known as “real life Scooby-doo” or a real life mystery, arrived in Rexburg in February. Having great success in Utah, Steven South a student at BYU-Idaho, decided to open one in Rexburg after his brother thought it would be a great business opportunity.

According to its Facebook page, the Escape House is a challenging, mystery solving game for small groups. Attendees work as a team to solve clues and escape the room. In each room of the house, guests receive clues that may or may not be helpful in getting them out of the locked house. Right now there are two possible scenarios.

South said you have to use the clues to solve the mystery.

“I compare it to real life Scooby-Doo because that is kind of the feel I get,” he said. “There are clues and ciphers hidden. You’re with your group of friends and you’re finding things, like some rooms have secret doors and things like that that you need to find in order to progress.”

Hayley Kowalski, a guest who participated in the Escape House, said it was a unique experience.

“It was really enjoyable, we went for (Family Home Evening) activity and it was overall just really fun, she said. “I originally I thought it was going to be creepy and scary something like a haunted house, but after I got in there it wasn’t like that at all.”
