Minnesota Timberwolves Coach Flip Saunders Dies of Cancer

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Minnesota Timberwolves coach Phil “Flip” Saunders has lost his battle with cancer.
Saunders tallied more than 1,000 victories during his 35 years as a coach. During his career he coached the Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and also coached the Washington Wizards for 17 seasons, reports ESPN.
Saunders first announced he was battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma back in August. Coach Saunders planned to remain in his position of head coach as doctors treating him considered the lymphoma to be ‘treatable’.
On Friday, it was announced he would miss the whole season, says ESPN.
Flip Saunders was 60 years old.
