IDAHO FALLS — The Festival of Lights in Freeman Park is proving popular among eastern Idahoans.

Idaho Falls spokeswoman Kerry McCullough said more than 700 cars visited the park during its opening weekend and more vehicles attend the event each night.

The Festival of Lights is a drive-thru display featuring more than 70 animated holiday scenes, color changing trees and music. Gravity Pictures and the Idaho Falls Department of Parks and Recreation created a video of the display that is available above.

The event runs through Dec. 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday and from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The entrance fee is $10 per carload or $15 for oversized or commercial-sized vehicles. An active military discount is available at $5 per vehicle with a military ID, and a discount of $5 per vehicle is available on Wednesdays. Wagon rides and visits with Santa are included in the price, according to a city news release.

The event, McCullough said, is a fundraiser. A portion of the proceeds from the program go into a parks improvement fund to help with upgrades to city park amenities.
