SUGAR CITY — A reward is being offered for information regarding a string of graffiti incidents.
Sugar City government and a local homeowners’ association are offering $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of an individual or people responsible for several thousand dollars worth of damage.
Sometime during the night of March 8, a suspected group of graffiti artists spray painted local grain elevators, railroad cars, homes, fences and even climbed up and tagged the water tower.
At the moment the Madison County Sheriff’s Office does not have any suspects.
But, Capt. Cameron Stanford said the office has significant evidence, including footprints, empty spray cans and fingerprints.
“So they will get caught … the city is just wanting to help the process,” Stanford said.
Residents with information about the graffiti can contact the sheriff’s office at (208) 356-5426 or Sugar City Hall at (208) 356-7571.
In the meantime, Stanford encourages residents to keep an eye out for potential crime.
“We’ll be stepping up the patrols with the warmer weather, but people should be vigilant and report things they see,” Stanford said.
