I-15 crossovers in Pocatello begin tomorrow for summer bridge maintenance

The following is a news release from the Idaho Transportation Department.

POCATELLO – A new “crossover” traffic pattern will take effect on Interstate 15 Friday (June 9) as the Idaho Transportation Department begins repairing bridges at Terry Street, Barton Road and South 5th Avenue Interchange. Motorists are urged to plan extra time, pay attention to signage and slow down.

I-15 will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Center Street and S. 5th Avenue. Southbound I-15 traffic will cross over to the northbound side, allowing crews to safely work on the bridges. See crossover map

ITD will hydroblast and remove the old bridge surfaces, lay new pavement, install new sign structures and replace guardrail at each bridge.

Terry Street, Barton Road and South 5th Avenue will remain open during construction. Occasional lane restrictions may be necessary for safety on the local roads.

ITD is investing $95 million into bridge repairs and pavement improvements on I-15 in 2017 and 2018. Construction is expected to continue for the next several years.
