SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah judge has ordered FLDS leader warren Jeffs to pay $16 million to former child bride Elissa Wall.

Jeffs is currently serving a life sentence for aggravated child sexual assault and other convictions.

Wall was 14 years old when she was forced to marry her cousin, who was 19 at the time.

Jeffs was also charged and convicted of rape as an accomplice in the case, which was later overturned.

The decision allows her to collect payment from either Jeffs, or from the church itself. She said in a statement to CNN that the ruling has provided her closure and allowed her to move on with her life.

CNN reached out to the The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for comment but has not heard back.
