Ground broken for new FBI facility which will bring 350 jobs to east Idaho
Published atPOCATELLO — Three hundred and fifty jobs will be added to the area with the addition of the new FBI Data Center on Pole Line Road in Pocatello.
During the groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, Richard Haley, the FBI’s Assistant Director of Finance, said the Data Center will improve the agency’s IT infrastructure and database support. Haley said the facility will also expand their field operations.

“In addition to building a data center, we saw this as a broader opportunity to bring in additional personnel. This addition will allow us to get our personnel numbers up to 200 at this facility. Over the next couple of years, we’ll be on the path to grow the facility to over 500 personnel,” Haley said.
Haley commented the incoming employees will be a combination of new hires and transfers.
Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad, along with Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England and other officials, were on hand for the groundbreaking.
Blad said this uptick in jobs is going to have a major impact on the region.
“Along the I-15 corridor, this is going to be a big win. We’ll be getting new people with new ideas. We’ll see new businesses come in, which will only improve the area where we live,” Blad said.
The expansion of the current building will take approximately two years to complete.
There are currently 400 FBI locations across the country. This data center has been in the works for six years.
