Hungry? Here are 5 amazing food challenges to try in east Idaho
Published at | Updated at
All of us love food and most of us will accept a good challenge – even if the only reward is bragging rights.
Some restaurants in east Idaho have turned eating into a competition. If you’re into that sort of thing, we challenge you to visit these five places and eat your way to fame and fortune (or at least a cool selfie next to a ginormous plate of food).
BIG JUD’S (Archer)

Big Jud’s offers two challenges for burger lovers – the Big Jud special and the Double Big Jud special.
The Big Jud special includes a 1-pound burger with cheddar cheese, one pound of french fries and a 32-ounce soda. If you can eat it all in under 30 minutes, your photo goes on the wall.
For those looking for the ultimate dare, dive into the Double Big Jud Special featuring a 2-pound burger with all the toppings, a pound of fries and a 32-ounce soft drink.
If your stomach can handle all of that in under 30 minutes, your photo not only goes on the wall, but your meal is free.
At last check, there were around a dozen photos on the Double Big Jud Special wall. Will yours be next?
BUFFALO WILD WINGS (Idaho Falls)

There are hot wings – and then there are really, really hot wings. This challenge falls into the latter category.
Buffalo Wild Wings is the proud home of the Blazin’ Challenge.
“To successfully complete our Blazin’ Challenge, a guest must eat 12 traditional wings in Blazin’ sauce within six minutes,” a company spokesman says. “The challenge is monitored by a Buffalo Wild Wings team member. If the guest completes the challenge, they receive a Blazin’ Challenge Survivor Reward, which includes a T-shirt.”
OLE’S DINER (Sugar City)

They call it the Ole’s Bypass Challenge for a reason. You may need to see a heart specialist after conquering this beast.
You’ve got 30 minutes to eat the Triple Bypass burger, which consists of three hamburger patties, three eggs, three pieces of bacon and all the fixings. Plus you have to gulp down a regular milkshake and a basket of fries.
If you can do it, you get a T-shirt. If you beat the record, your meal is paid for.
Lehi Vang currently holds the Ole’s Diner record. He scarfed all that food down in 11 minutes and 6 seconds. And no, he didn’t need to see a doctor.
511 MAIN (Ashton)

Ice cream lovers, this one’s for you. The Huckleberry Mountain is yours for free if you can eat it in under 5 minutes and 11 seconds (and yes, they do time you).
The SIX scoops of huckleberry ice cream are topped with huckleberries, huckleberry syrup, nuts, whipped cream and, of course, a cherry on top.
It’s a treat you won’t forget at 511 Main in Ashton.
BLUE HEELER (Pocatello)

The Big Dog is a fairly new challenge being offered by the Blue Heeler, and fans are anxiously lining up.
The ultimate eater has 30 minutes to consume the Big Dog burger. This includes a pound of hamburger, grilled onions and mushrooms, bacon and ham and four pieces of cheese. Oh – and don’t forget the pound of french fries too.
If you can do it, you get a Blue Heeler T-shirt, and your photo goes on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
