Robert D. “Bob” Bowman, 96, passed away Tues, Oct 26th at Lincoln Court Assisted-living Care home in

Idaho Falls of natural causes.

He was born January 26, 1925, in New Madison, Ohio to Herbert and Mildred Bowman.

Bob was raised and attended schools in Ohio, and following high school graduation, Bob studied civil engineering in Indiana while serving his country in the United States Navy, during WWII. He was honorably discharged in1946 at San Pedro, California.

On June 26, 1944, he married June French, and after he was discharged from the Navy, they lived and worked for a short time on a large ranch in California. They saw an ad in a newspaper inviting settlers to “come and live in Idaho”, so they ventured their way to dwell in Idaho, beginning in late 1947. Bob worked in Hagerman, then Blackfoot, where their two sons were born, and then in 1956 purchased a ranch in the Lost River Valley near Moore, Idaho. While ranching together with his family, Bob also worked in civil engineering for 25 years on what is now called the INL site and June worked as an elementary school teacher. Bob and his family enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he and June enjoyed traveling to such places as Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, Ecuador and spent several winters in Baja.

Surviving him are his two sons Roy of New River, AZ, and Max currently located in Santiago, Chile; two grandaughters Traci (and Dave) Myers of East Wenatchee, WA and Mindy Dimick of Pocatello, ID; seven great-grandchildren Brianna, Mackenzie, Matt, Zach, Nick, Bailey and Cassi; and one great, great-grandson Braxton. He was preceded in death by his wife, June on July 3, 1994.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Family Funeral Home, 2555 N. Highway 93, Arco, ID. A viewing will be held at 1:00 pm at the funeral home just previous to the funeral service. Immediately following the service the procession will travel to the Pioneer Cemetery northeast of Moore, Idaho for the interment.
