Charles Isom

Charles Burke Isom, 91, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at his home in Rupert, ID.

He was born October 20, 1930, to Andrew Normington Isom and Jacosa Dean Burke in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Charles was really proud of his birthday being 10-20-30. He attended school in a one-room schoolhouse in Oakley Valley starting at the age of 5 and attended grades 1 through 8. He loved his teacher and said she was his second mom.

On July 30, 1948, he married Fern Alice Hines, and they were blessed with 5 children. He spent his whole life living his dream of being a farmer and rancher in Idaho Falls, Leadore, Arco, and finished out his life in Rupert, Idaho where he still farmed his “little farm” until last year. He was also community-oriented and served several years as PTA President and president of the grazing organization in Leadore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Lallis McKenzie, Maxine Isom, Rilla Lewis, and Earlene Campbell; his brothers, Dean and Frank Isom; his wife of 56 years; his son, Charles Isom, a daughter-in-law Jan Sweeten, a grandson, and granddaughter. He is survived by his children, Connie Hatch, Jackie Larson, Tresa Searle, and Don Isom, 15 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Private family graveside services will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, at Fielding Memorial Cemetery in Idaho Falls, ID. Services are being cared for by the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Arco.
