Darwin “Pete” Rigby
August 1st, 1950 - September 30th, 2023
Darwin Eugene Rigby “Pete” passed away peacefully Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Rexburg Idaho at age 73 in Assisted Living. He was born in Rexburg – the second child of ten born to Rulon Eugene Rigby and Zola Carlson Rigby. Pete grew up in the Parker-Egin and Saint Anthony area and lived for a short time in Cobalt, Idaho while his Dad worked in the Blackbird Mine.
Pete worked as a truck driver, in construction and as a crane operator at the Idaho Stud Mill in Saint Anthony. He owned a small plane and loved flying. He also enjoyed racing snowmobiles as part of a five-man team. Pete entered the National guard – completing his Basic Training at Fort Ord, CA. He served in the Idaho National Guard during the Vietnam Era and was stationed stateside – at the same time his brother Sherwin was on active duty in Vietnam.
Pete married but was divorced. From this marriage, he had a son, Jason Rigby.
Pete is survived by his mother, Zola C Rigby, his son Jason Rigby (Tiffany), his sisters Julie Murri (Dennis), Mickie Rigby (David Hamilton), Tami Warner (Brian), Fawn Whittaker (Don), Robin Klein (Brent), his brother James Rigby, grandchildren Stetson and David Rigby and Lizzy Degiulio. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Rigby, his brothers Sherwin, Kevin and Kelly Rigby. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E 1st N, Saint Anthony, Idaho. The family will receive friends that morning from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery with military rites provided by the St. Anthony Veterans and the Idaho National Guard Honor Guard.
