Derrald Jesse Waters
July 12th, 1930 - September 22nd, 2023
Derrald Jesse Waters died peacefully at his beloved home in Blackfoot (Riverside), Idaho on September 22, 2023.
Derrald was born on July 12, 1930 to Seth Gates Waters and Frances Ethel Crow in Iona, Idaho.
He was the youngest of nine children in his family. Derrald grew up on a farm and sheep ranch and learned the value of hard work at a very young age. Living on a farm, he grew up with sheep, cattle and horses and his love of ranching remained with him throughout his life.
Derrald lived a full life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He formerly served as a Bishop in the Mackay, Idaho ward and was instrumental in getting the Mackay chapel built during his time as Bishop.
He loved the outdoors and loved fishing and hunting.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as an agent the majority of his adult life and later owned and operated Riverside Boot and Saddle in Blackfoot, Idaho.
He will long be remembered for his ability to tell stories and he loved to reminisced about his ancestors and family.
Derrald is survived by his wife, Margie Lucile Waters; children: Vicki (Gene) Poelman of Greybull, Wyoming, Debra (Ron) Shipley of Pocatello, Idaho, Brian (Patreasa) Waters of Blackfoot, Idaho, Jarice (Brett) Butterfield of Tehachapi, California, Stacey (James) Hayward of Pocatello, Idaho, and Eric Waters of Blackfoot, Idaho. He is also survived by his twenty-eight grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Derrald was preceded in death by his parents Seth and Ethel Waters; siblings: Lila Waters, Leo Waters, Norman (Monty) Waters, Marcia (Eliza) Haws, Floyd Waters, Velma Mitchell, George (Warren) Waters, and Max Waters and grandsons Justin Beardall and Benjamin Waters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Iona Cemetery.
