Michael Waters
February 20th, 1956 - November 21st, 2023
Michael Paul Waters, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 21, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Mike was born February 20, 1956, in Winner, South Dakota, to Dale Laverne Waters and Betty Bee Waters. He grew up and attended schools in Carter and Winner, South Dakota. He graduated from Winner High School in 1974. He also attended Oak Hills Bible College after high school.
On March 2, 1990, he married Mary Jo Maxey in Rapid City, South Dakota. Mike and Mary made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Mike worked as a stone mason. He owned his own masonry company, M&M Masonry, and was known for his “heirloom quality” work.
He attended the Community Church of God in Christ, where he taught Bible Study. He also participated in Community Bible Study. He loved working with his hands and was a master craftsman. He loved studying the Bible and history, kayaking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and camping.
Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Waters of Idaho Falls, ID; father, Dale Laverne Waters of Winner, SD; sons, Colin (Laurin) Waters of Idaho Falls, ID, Austin (Blaiken) Waters of Iona, ID, and Tyler Waters of Idaho Falls, ID; son-in-law, Miguel Barrera of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Steve (Marla Jean) Waters of Carter, SD; sister, Robin (Tom) Carlson of Gilbert, MN; brother, Tim (Judy) Waters of Pierre, SD; brother, Doug (Christine) Waters of Carter, SD; sister, Nichole (Rich) Timms of Shell Lake, WI; sister, Kaye (Roland) Gylfe of Beresford, SD; brother, Dale “D.J.” (Natasha) Waters of Park City, KS; and five grandchildren, Mya Barrera, Miguel Barrera, Isaiha Barrera, Jordan Waters, and Harlee Waters.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Bee Waters; brother, David Waters; and daughters, Julie Ann Jorgenson and Rebecca Jo Barrera.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the ICU staff at Idaho Falls Community Hospital, most notably, nurses Julie and Cassidy, and Dr. J. Miller, who oversaw his care.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
