Brent Woffinden Stohl, passed away on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024 in Marysville, Idaho surrounded by the love of his family. Heaven blessed us with some precious days to gather and to express our love to our amazing husband, father and grandfather.

Brent was born on November 2, 1944 in Brigham City, Utah to Floyd Hunsaker Stohl and Hope Woffinden. He grew up in the Tremonton/Garland area of Utah with many fond memories of his early childhood. The family moved to Ashton after purchasing a farm in the Lamont area. He graduated from North Fremont High School in 1963 and then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Great Lakes Mission. He loved his mission and made many life-long friends during his service there. After his mission, he had the opportunity to go and hear his Mission President speak in Island Park. He wanted to take along a date and Grandma Hope suggested he take Diane Orme. How blessed we are that she agreed to go! They were married on January 25, 1967 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Brent and Diane attended BYU in Provo where he graduated in Business Management. They then returned to Ashton to the family farm. This began a legacy of faith, family and joy as they worked together to achieve their dreams.

Brent loved being a farmer/rancher and he found true happiness in working the land and bringing in the harvest. The friendships he has made along the way were some of his greatest treasures. These past years have brought him such joy as he and Curtis Parkinson have worked to continue the vision for the ranch. How grateful our family is to Curtis for his insight and his continuing care of Stohl Ranches.

Brent was never one to sit still and you would always find him out and about, driving around and talking on his cell phone. Brent loved restoring classic cars and one of his favorite pastimes was going to car shows with his family. He was very knowledgeable about the make and style of cars, especially his favorite, Ford Mustangs. It was always such fun watching him debate other car enthusiasts over Ford versus Chevy.

Brent was a true friend to all he met. He loved serving with the young men in his Ward callings. He shared many life lessons with them as he encouraged their future plans and dreams. Brent served in many Stake and Ward callings and he cherished the incredible people he met. You would often find him leaning against his pickup talking with friends and neighbors and sharing his infectious laugh. His genuine care for others has blessed many lives.

Brent’s greatest joy was his family. He delighted in spending time with them whether walking about the ranch or on a family trip to Disneyland. His children will tell you that the best memories were simply taking a drive with Dad and listening to him talk. Somehow he always knew exactly what you needed to hear and he had an uncanny way of breaking down any problem into manageable pieces. He had an amazing bond with his grandchildren and he took such delight in watching them grow. Each one has precious memories of time with Grandpa and the wisdom he shared. Their lives will forever be blessed by his advice and unconditional love.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to all who have comforted us during these last few months. A very special thank you to Dawn Toenjes, Krystal Martindale and Bruce Baxter for their sweet and tender care.

Brent is survived by his loving wife, Diane, of Ashton, Idaho; daughter Leslie (Robert) Egbert and son Nathan (Krista) Stohl, both of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter-in-law Megan Stohl of South Jordan, Utah; grandchildren Braxton (Ashlyn) Egbert, Shaelyn (Samuel) Taylor, Tanner (Jaidyn) Stohl, Katie, Sydnee, Kara and Carson Stohl, Libby (Evan) Allen, Ella, Lucy, Owen and Levi Stohl and great-grandchildren Ivie, Annie and Grayson. Brent is survived by his sisters Jackie Murri of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Sandy Leavitt of Teton, Idaho and brother Sid (Ann) Stohl of St. George, Utah, and sister-in-law Judy Stohl of Roseville, California.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Floyd and Hope Stohl, brother, Dennis Stohl, and his precious son, Sean Stohl.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Ashton Stake Center, 512 N. 2nd St. , Ashton, Idaho.
