Here are the contested races in Lemhi, Butte and Custer Counties

IDAHO FALLS – Election season is underway and counties throughout eastern Idaho will have a number of contested races on the ballot.

Voters in Butte, Custer and Lemhi Counties are electing various county officials. All three counties have contested county commissioner races. Lemhi and Custer County residents will also elect a new candidate for sheriff.

The deadline to file to run for legislative or county office was Friday, March 15. The primary is May 21.

Here’s who’s filed to run in contested county races.

Sheriff Steve Penner, who has been in office for two terms, is not seeking re-election.

Sheriff

Sheriff Stuart “Stu” Lumpkin is not seeking re-election. He is retiring on April 30. The Custer County Republican Central Committee is in the process of nominating someone to replace him until the end of his term in December.
