He didn’t just hear people, he took a genuine interest in learning about their lives, their stories, and what made them who they were. He had a way of asking the right questions, remembering the small details, and making you feel deeply valued.
Dan dedicated his life to helping others, especially children and families in need. As a retired social worker with Child Protective Services, he worked tirelessly to protect, support, and advocate for the most vulnerable. His work left a lasting impact on countless lives, and his kindness, dedication and unwavering support made him a true superhero to many. His heart was filled with compassion, kindness, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people.
Beyond his career, Dan found peace and joy in the outdoors. He had a deep passion for hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time at his trailer in Island Park, where he could truly be at peace. He adored his children and grandchildren, always putting thought into the gifts he gave, often crafting personalized items with their favorite colors carefully woven in.

Dan is also survived by his siblings: John (Marilyn) Chatterton, Susan (David) Dewey; Sandra (Craig) Perrenoud, Ron (Carin) Chatterton, Cyndy Harrison, Chris (Trisha) Chatterton, along with his faithful dog, Levi, who was always by his side.
Dan had a special relationship with his nieces and nephews, spending much of his time supporting, guiding and helping them.
Dan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, living his faith through his compassion, love for others, and unwavering belief in the power of kindness. He was married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 27, 1983, to Teri Pettingill, with whom he shared many years and raised a family until 2017 and Dan returned back to Idaho. He served a mission in Louisville, Kentucky, concluding in 1982, and faithfully served as a counselor in several bishoprics.
His wisdom, warmth, and fun sense of humor will be deeply missed, but the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
