BOISE (Idaho Statesman) — Boise State football’s Ahmed Hassanein is doing everything in his power to ensure he’s the first Egyptian ever drafted by the NFL.

The defensive end participated in the NFL Scouting Combine over the weekend.

The event, which lasts for three days, allows NFL scouts, coaches and front-office personnel to interview and train potential future draft picks.

Approximately 300 players are invited to the combine each year, providing a preview of what April’s NFL Draft will look like.

The Broncos had two representatives in 2025: Hassanein and star junior running back Ashton Jeanty. While Jeanty didn’t participate in on-field workouts, Hassanein created some buzz over the weekend.

Hassanein, a 267-pound edge rusher from Egypt who only moved to the United States in 2019, began to earn the spotlight Friday when he was filmed getting hyped up with Baltimore Ravens pass rush coach Chuck Smith.

“Everybody raves about him at Boise; they rave about him where he’s been training,” NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said as Hassanein ran his second 40-yard dash. Over the weekend, Hassanein participated in numerous tests. Here are his measurements and how his combine results fared against other defensive ends and edge rushers.

Measurements
Height: 6 feet, 2 3/8 inches
Weight: 267 pounds
Hand size: 9 inches
Arm length: 32 1/4 inches
Wing span: 78 3/4 inches

Combine results (rank among DL/Edge)
40-yard dash: 4.77 seconds (15th) 10-yard split: 1.7 seconds (17th)
Vertical jump: 32.5 inches (15th)
Broad jump: 9 feet, 5 inches (19th)
Bench press (225 pounds): 27 reps (5th) J

Jeanty opts out of on-field workouts

Although Jeanty traveled to Indianapolis for the combine, he opted to participate only in medical screenings and 15 one-on-one interviews with NFL teams.

Instead, he’ll work out at Boise State’s pro day on March 26, likely attracting more attention to the Broncos’ pro day than initially anticipated.

Some of the teams that met with Jeanty include the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, which recently hired former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore as head coach.

Jeanty previously said he wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys, having spent his high school days in Frisco, Texas. But he told The Exhibit’s Josina Anderson that he particularly enjoyed his interview with the Vikings, who taught him a new pass protection.

“It was kind of similar to one I did back in college,” Jeanty said. “So (with) them already kind of showing me their philosophies early on, I thought that was pretty cool.”

As with every player who attends the combine, Jeanty also had his measurements taken over the weekend:

Measurements
Height: 5 feet, 8 1/2 inches
Weight: 211 pounds
Hand size: 9 1/4 inches
Arm length: 29 1/4 inches
Wing span: 72 3/4 inches
