Matchup set for 4A D5 district championship; where other baseball district tourneys stand

MARSH VALLEY — Saturday’s 4A South East Idaho Conference district tournament championship game is set.
The host Marsh Valley Eagles will face the Bear Lake Bears at Marsh Valley High School at 1:30 p.m., following a busy semifinal Friday.
Marsh Valley scored a mercy-rule 11-1 victory over the same Bears team for the automatic finals bid.
Bear Lake beat Snake River Thursday for the right to face the Eagles Friday. After a Panthers victory over American Falls Friday afternoon, the Bears and Panthers battled for the second finals spot Friday evening, with Bear Lake coming away 14-7 victors.
The Eagles (22-1) boast a perfect 6-0 record in conference play, beating Bear Lake three times by a combined score of 47 to 1.
Saturday’s winner will earn a spot in the state tournament super regional round.
In other district tourney action
The Madison Bobcats will visit the Highland Rams, Saturday, for the 6A District 4-5-6 championship. … The Pocatello Thunder bested Preston for the 5A District 5 championship. … The Bonneville Bees topped the Blackfoot Broncos for the 5A District 6 championship. Blackfoot will face Skyline for the district runner-up finish. … By scores of 12-1 and 16-6, Sugar-Salem claimed a 4A D6 title over South Fremont. … Declo will face Malad for the 3A D4-5 championship. The Hornets will need to beat the Dragons twice for the championship. … Challis-Mackay and North Fremont will play Saturday morning for the right to face Firth in the 3A D6 championship game, which will be played Saturday afternoon. Like Malad, the Panthers must fall twice to be eliminated.
