Justice Ginsburg Officiating Same-Sex Marriage Ceremony

Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg via Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is officiating the wedding of Kennedy Center President Michael M. Kaiser and economist John Roberts on Saturday.
She is the first Supreme Court judge to conduct a same-sex marriage ceremony, the Washington Post reports.
The ceremony will be held at Washington’s performing arts center.
According to the Post, Ginsburg is a close friend of Kaiser, 59, who has been a leader at the Kennedy Center since 2001. Roberts, 32, works at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Ginsburg was in the majority in this summer’s Supreme Court rulings, in which the court declared same-sex couples are entitled to the same federal benefits as heterosexual couples.
Same-sex marriage is now legal in the District of Columbia and 13 states.
