Wayne Parkinson, 75, Long time resident of Rexburg, passed away on July 16th, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne was born on July 14, 1950, in Rexburg, to Detsel and Earlene Parkinson. He grew up in the Rexburg area and graduated from Madison High School in 1969. On June 5th 1976 he married Janece Christiansen. They were married for 32 years and raised 5 children at the time of her passing. Wayne spent his life operating and working with heavy equipment- Excavation as well as over the road trucking.

In 2014 Wayne found love and married Nicole Jones, and to that union added three wonderful children. Wayne and Nicole were sealed in the Rexburg Temple in 2024. Nicole provided care for Wayne as he battled cancer.

Wayne will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, his stories, friendly personality, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand without recognition.

Wayne enjoyed classic cars, especially MOPAR. Wayne loved thrilling his passengers with a good ‘burnout’. His family remembers spending quality time with him in nature; camping, fishing, hiking, picking huckleberries, and long scenic drives.

Wayne was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints and served in many capacities.

He is survived by his wife Nicole Jones-Parkinson; Children, Brandon (Jen) Parkinson, Sonya (Kevin) Thompson, Erin (Greg) Rammell, Alyssa (Matt) Bowen, Adam (Elizabeth) Parkinson, Amber (Travis) Dexter, Trever (Kayla) Jones, Britney (Andrew) Blake.
