Don Blunck
October 26th, 1938 - August 7th, 2025
Don Gray Blunck, 86 years old from Wilford, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. Don was born on October 26, 1938, the third child of four to Leo and Irene Blunck at his family home in Menan, Idaho. He spent his early childhood between Menan and the dry farm south of Rexburg, Idaho. He farmed with his dad and older brother Gary from an early age until his graduation from Madison High School in 1956.
Don married Marcile Palmer in 1958 in Rexburg and the couple lived in Pocatello, Idaho while Don attended Idaho State University studying electronics. He worked at Sperry Rand in Bountiful, Utah for a time. Missing Rexburg Don and Marcile returned to their hometown in 1963, and Don went to work for Herdti Electric as an electrician. In 1973 Don and Marcile started Blunck Electric. Don retired from electrical work in 2016. Don Joined the Idaho Army National Guard in 1956 and served there and in the US Army Reserve in Utah until 1962.
Don and Marcile brought Don, Ron, Jerry, Brad, Suzette, Mike and Marie into the world. Don and Marcile have twenty-eight grandkids, thirty-five great grandkids, with five more on the way and one great great grandkid. Don loved the time he was able to spend with his family snowmobiling, camping and traveling.
Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in numerous positions in the Church. Don and Marcile served a mission to the Georgia Atlanta North Mission in 2010.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sisters Margene and Ranae, his daughter Marie and grandson Austin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at the Wilford LDS Chapel, 215 N. 2400 E., with Bishop Jason Abegglen officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. both times at the church. Interment will be at the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
