Obituary
Margaret Andrus
November 19th, 1933 - August 31st, 2025
Margaret Roberts Andrus, 91 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Fairwinds Sand Creek Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She was born on November 19, 1933, in Rigby, Idaho, to William Carlos Roberts and Florence Emma Koller Roberts. She spent her childhood and youth with cherished friends and family in Sugar City, Idaho. She attended and graduated from Sugar Salem High School and later attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.
Margaret met and fell in love with Gary Todd Andrus, whom she married on December 9, 1955. They were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.
They lived for a short time in Montpelier, Idaho, then Blackfoot, and finally made their home in Idaho Falls, where they were able to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary.
Margaret and Gary raised and nurtured 5 children: Jeff, Wyatt, Holly, Kim, and Gerri. Her family will say that being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is the most notable legacy she will leave them. They will remember, nurture, and share her wisdom with future generations of family and others.
While in Idaho Falls, Margaret served in many church callings. With the youth, she fostered faith and strength with the young women in her ward as President two separate times, and then twice as the Relief Society President, leading the sisters in her ward. Hers was a lifetime of unpretentious, compassionate, and selfless service.
Margaret and Gary served faithfully on an LDS mission in Pennsylvania, Harrisburg for 18 months in 1992. As an active member of the LDS church, Margaret also served in and attended the temple in Idaho Falls for many years. She felt the Savior’s peace whenever she attended the temple.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and facility attendants at the local hospital, doctors’ offices, and the Fairwinds facility, where she was lovingly and compassionately cared for.
Margaret is survived by two sons: Jeffery (Gayla) Andrus of Blackfoot, Idaho and Wyatt (Elicia) Andrus of Ukiah, California; three daughters: Holly (Mark) Rose of Hermiston, Oregon, Kim Andrus Croft of Idaho Falls Idaho, and Gerri (Kenneth) Grover of Caldwell, Idaho; one sister-in-law, Shirly Andrus of Ucon, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Andrus; her parents and three brothers: Keith Roberts, Bill Roberts, and Lenard Roberts; her sister, Thelma; and her grandson, Benjamine Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 1st St, Idaho Falls, with her son Wyatt Andrus officiating. Following the service, interment will be at the Ucon Cemetery, where son Jeffery Andrus will offer the dedicatory prayer.
