EASTERN IDAHO — Five of six state football championship banners have been claimed, with the Hillcrest Knights still in the running for the 5A title.
Eastern Idaho schools qualified for three of the state championship games — including Monday night’s 5A game. The Ririe Bulldogs fell in overtime, dropping the program’s first-ever appearance in the title game. Rigby had much better luck, claiming its fifth banner in seven years, cementing the Trojans’ program as a legitimate dynasty.
And while all the fun football playoffs were going on, the girls’ high school basketball season got underway with reigning champions Pocatello, Sugar-Salem and Rockland each starting the season with wins.
