Calvin Michael Nelson

Calvin Michael Nelson, age 75, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away at home in the early hours of Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025.

Mike was born April 27, 1950, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the eldest son of Calvin & Marva (Sundberg) Nelson. Mike graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1968 in Salt Lake before going into the Marine Corps.

In February 1988, Mike married Lynn Celestina in Milford, New York. They made their home in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, with Lynn’s two children. They had three children together, two born in Pennsylvania and one after they relocated to Idaho.

Mike liked to work with his hands. He worked in construction with his brothers for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful furniture as well. Mike also enjoyed gardening. In later years, when he had to be in a wheelchair, he would go out to watch the sunsets, feed the chickens and pet the cats.

Mike is survived by his children, Chassidy Andersen of West Yellowstone, Montana, Nikole Wiltse of Rigby, Idaho, Kaila Nelson of West Yellowstone, Montana, Alexandria (Nick) Hendrickson of West Yellowstone, Montana, and Michael Nelson (son) of West Yellowstone, Montana, along with 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and his five siblings, Vicki Boyle, Jeff (Nancy) Nelson, Brad (JQ) Nelson, Tricia Loveland, Shauri Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin & Marva Nelson, and grandson Keenan Andersen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home, with a visitation prior from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
