Richard Eugene Carr, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Lincoln Court Senior Living. He was under the care of Brio Home Health and Hospice.

Richard was born May 16, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Eugene and Ruth Carr. Following graduation from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, he attended the University of Iowa.

Following his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sara Shumate, the couple moved to Idaho in 1959, where they were instrumental in the startup of a radio station, KSRA, in Salmon. In 1963, they moved to Jackson, Wyoming, where they signed on and managed KSGT Radio. Following their divorce in 1965, Richard moved to Soda Springs, where he was employed at KBRV Radio. In Soda Springs, he met and married Jeanette Stoor, and they later divorced. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1967, where he began his 21-year career in television broadcasting at KID (KIDK) TV. He started out in advertising sales at the station and served as general manager from 1980-1988. He opened MCS (Media Coordination Services) in 1988, which he operated until the sale of the business in 2006. He then joined Bank of Idaho and served as the bank’s Director of Marketing until his retirement in 2013.

He was an active member of the Idaho Falls Exchange Club and East Idaho Crime Stoppers.

He is survived by three sons: Donald Eugene (and Kathleen) Carr of Victor, Idaho, Thomas Richard Carr of Borrego Springs, California, and David Robert Carr of Hermiston, Oregon; one sister, Joann Carr Kingkade of San Diego, California; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 455 W. Sunnyside Road, Idaho Falls. Family and friends are invited to gather at Bowlero, 670 First Street, Idaho Falls, immediately following the service.
