Obituary
Anne Stegelmeier
July 3rd, 1937 - December 18th, 2025
Nancy Anne Warner Stegelmeier passed away peacefully in her home on December 18, 2025.
Anne was born in Niter (Grace), Idaho on July 3, 1937, to William Orange Warner and Katherine Van den Akker. Her family moved to Rigby that same year. She grew up and attended school in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School in 1955.
Anne met Loren Stegelmeier at a football game in Ashton their senior year. They were later acquainted at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in the fall of 1955, while they were each attending Ricks College. They continued dating and were married on August 8, 1956, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Their family grew as they continued Loren’s education. Loren graduated from Utah State University, followed by a year at Kansas State University and then completed his degree in Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 1965. Anne was the driving force in emotional and financial assistance as Loren finished his degree. They made many friends as they moved from state to state attending school.
During the college years they started a family, which continued to grow to eleven children.
They opened Rexburg Veterinary Clinic in 1965; first, in their home and then later built a clinic north of Rexburg, next to the Teton Vu Theater. Anne spent many hours as a receptionist and veterinary assistant. They closed the practice in 2000 to serve a mission together.
After all of Anne’s children were in school, she finished her degree in Elementary Education and taught for a couple of years. She was on campus, at the same time as two of her children and took classes with them.
When Loren and Anne’s youngest son, Blaine, left to serve a mission, they also served their mission in the Ivory Coast, Africa Mission and returned about the same time as Blaine. Later they served 18 months in Madagascar, then again in Uganda and finally at the Family History Center in the Joseph Smith Building in Salt Lake City, Utah. Not to brag, but that is four missions.
Anne was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many callings in the Primary, Young Women and the Relief Society. She was an eleven-year-old scout leader for over 20 years. She and Loren served as temple ordinance workers in The Idaho Falls Temple and then the Rexburg Temple until 2023.
She is survived by is her husband, Loren, and children; Lorana Johnson, Bryan (Judy) Stegelmeier, Susan (Bruce) Walker, Sandra (Ted) Balmforth, Daren (Marcelle) Stegelmeier, Chris (Justin) Stegelmeier, Amy (Ray) McDougal, Krynn (Jessica) Stegelmeier, Krehl (Amy) Stegelmeier. Along with her eleven children, Loren and Anne have 47 grandchildren, many of them with spouses and numerous great-grandchildren with the number going up monthly.
Preceding her in death are her parents, siblings, son-in-law Bruce Walker and two sons Paul and Blaine.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2024, at the Rexburg North Stake Center, 314 E 2nd N. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 and again Monday, prior to services, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. both times at the church.
