David Glenn Dalley, 77 of Parker, Idaho, passed away due to complications of Influenza A at Carriage Cove Rehabilitation facility in Rexburg, Idaho, on December 22, 2025.

Dave was born June 29, 1948, in Driggs, Idaho, to Alvin and LaJean Buxton Dalley. He was the first and biggest of six children. Brothers Gregg, Layne, Jim, sister Lisa, and brother Doug followed in due time. Dave attended school in Driggs, with a brief year spent near Layton, Utah, during third grade while his father taught school there.

Dave spent much of his free time hunting and fishing in the mountains and plains around his home with his father, Alvin (Dutch), his brothers and various other Teton Valley rednecks. His father, who could outwork three strong men, taught him to work. His father was also his wrestling coach throughout high school, and was a National Wrestling Coaches’ Hall of Fame inductee as well as the town mayor for 24 years. Dave spent a considerable amount of time working on his Grandpa Buxton’s farm on the west side of the valley, and also helped with his Grandpa Dalley’s sheep. He spent one summer “bugging”, or spraying bug repellent on trees infected with bugs, with Dutch and Gregg.

After Dave graduated in 1966 from Teton Valley High School. He attended Ricks College where he met and married his first wife, Lynne Strever, and had a daughter, Danielle. He and Lynne were divorced after seven years.

In 1978 Dave married Nancy Rudd at Jenny Lake, Wyoming. The two were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in March, 1984. This union was blessed with four more children; David Jason (DJ), Brandon, Jessica and Joshua. The couple lived in Pocatello for the first 10 years of their lives while Dave worked at FMC. They then moved to Inkom, Idaho, where Dave was on the volunteer fire department. There were some memorable experiences for Dave involving the fire department including the day Dave got home to find a wild fire near his house. He jumped into his fire gear and proceeded to help his comrades and seven other fire departments put out the fire. Near the end of the rescue he found it had been two of his sons who had started the fire. At his fiftieth surprise birthday party at a nearby park the fire department arrived with sirens blaring, in full gear and with the hose to put out the candles on his birthday cake.

After 24 years at FMC the plant closed and Dave began work at INL. He was there for 19 years. In 2018 both Dave and Nancy retired, she from the education profession. In 2019 Dave was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. Fortunately it was one of the easiest cancers to heal and after 27 radiation treatments the cancer was clear and didn’t reoccur. In 2021 the couple built a small house on rural property near St Anthony, Idaho. Later that year Dave had intense back surgery. His mobility declined until he typically used a cane.

Surviving relatives are wife Nancy; children Danielle (Evan) Crawford of Durango, Colorado; DJ (Belma) Dalley of Pocatello; Brandon (Jeneal) of Pocatello; Jessi (Matt) Nelson of Blackfoot; and Dr. Josh (Sloan) Dalley of Pocatello; grandchildren Luna, Benson, Grant, Decker, Madex, Lowe, Dixie, Daisy, and Chester; siblings Gregg (Barbara) Dalley of Idaho Falls; Layne (Toni) Dalley of Idaho Falls; Lisa Field of Burley; and Doug (Jeanenne) Dalley of Tetonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and LaJean Dalley of Driggs; and brother Jim (Ann) Dalley of Pocatello.

Dave had many friends in Inkom and Parker, Idaho. We wish to particularly thank the Parker friends who were so kind to him in the last few years. We also thank Carriage Cove in Rexburg for the many kindnesses shown to him and our family in the last few days of his life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building in Parker, Idaho. Viewings will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 and again Monday from 10:00 to 10:45. Funeral services are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary. Dave’s favorite charity was St Jude’s Hospital for Children.
