Marian H. Purcell
May 12th, 1940 - January 17th, 2026
Marian H Purcell, 85 of Idaho Falls passed away January 17, 2026, peacefully at home.
She was born on May 12, 1940, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Verna and Noal Henderson. Marian grew up in Rexburg, graduating from Madison High School in 1958, and married Richard “Dick” Purcell on June 11, 1959, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their marriage brought 4 children Susan, James, Rodney and Shellie. Marian and Dick lived in Rexburg for the first years of their marriage, later making Idaho Falls their home where she worked for the Savings Center and Gretlel’s Gifts.
She enjoyed gardening with Dick and took pride in her roses and the many flowerbeds she had around the yard. Marian also known as GG, loved spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Susan (Ken) Stoneberg, Shellie (Danny) Drummer, son Rodney, grandchildren Amy, Jared (Sarah), Devin, TeAnna (Braydon) and eight great-grandchildren. Sisters, Sha’ron McCulloch, Joyce (Wylie) Browning, J’Lene (Layle) Cherry, and brother Robert (Vicki) Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Stuart and John, sisters Dolores, Joanne, Rita, and a son, James.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the Lincoln 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 2545 Mesa St Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, (101 West Main St Rigby, Idaho) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and on Friday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
