POCATELLO — Officers are searching for suspects after two women were stabbed near downtown Pocatello.

On Sunday night, at 10:06 p.m., Pocatello Police Department officers responded to an emergency call, where two women were stabbed by an “unknown male assailant,” according to a Facebook post from the department.

The incident occurred near the 700 Block of South Arthur Avenue, just south of downtown, before South Main Street becomes Bannock Highway.

The post says that both women were transported to Portneuf Medical Center for their injuries, but does not provide information on their current condition.

According to the post, “The male was described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with short hair, wearing a hat and a dark jacket. We are working on gathering further suspect information.”

The man reportedly fled from the area, going south on Arthur Avenue, the post says.

Police say the man is considered armed and dangerous, and ask the public to not approach him and call the police if you see him.

The department believes this is an isolated incident, but if new information arises that changes that conclusion, it will provide updates as soon as possible, says the post.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage in the area of 700 South Arthur Avenue is encouraged to contact the Pocatello Police Department at (208) 234-6100.

“The police are currently reviewing the victim’s cell phone for further information. The police are currently reviewing all evidence, cell phones, surveillance footage, and canvassing the area. We are following up on all leads as the investigation progresses,” the post reads.
